WWYD-Nanny called in for tomm and we were laying her off
I have no idea what is the best course at this point...we had planned to lay off our nanny due to cutting back costs due to job income reductions...tomm we were going to do it and my heart is breaking...well, she called in:( Do i tell her over the phone or do i have to delay it to do in person? My MIL is helping for the rest of the summer and i just have been dreading this....

I would wait and do it in person. I think laying someone off is very personal and should be handled face to face. Good luck!

2 weeks, i just know i wouldnt want to work at a place if they were letting me go,esp in this line of work, it is really emotional...it kinda feels like you are losing family but she has a tendency to react extremely emotionally and irrational when things happen so i am a little nervous

If I was losing my job and an overreactor, I think I would want privacy.
