Would you use the same "coming home" outfit that your mom took you home in, if you had it still?
My mom has a knitted outfit my grandma made, that she took myself and my siblings home in. I haven't seen it yet, but am not sure if I want to use it. It's all white, but I sort of really want DDs first outfit to be girly. Just not sure how I feel about it, in a way I want her to have her own outfit to come home in.
WWYD? Just curious

hmm, I don't know. A lot of my clothes aren't as soft as they used to be. But we will be using my christening gown for Baby Dodge which in turn is the same thing.
If you want something girly, I say go with it

I am a sappy sentimental girl so I would be totally into that. But if it isn't your thing, no big deal! Do what makes you happy

I probably would use it too.....but what if you dressed it up with a girly hat and socks.....that way your baby gets somethng new too!!

I used my coming home outfit for dd when she was born. it was in such great condition, it looked almost brand new. I loved that I was able to use it and we have pics side by side of both of us in it coming home from the hospital, but thats me..go with what you want to do.

My DS wore a sweater I wore home, my mom added blue ribbon to it. My grandmother who is no longer with us knitted it for me

I think the idea is beautiful but I would want something new and unique for my baby so that I can start his own memories and I would want him to be the only one to have worn it....
That is just my opinion......

i think that's a great idea. if you want it more girly you can weave a pink ribbon through it and maybe buy girly socks/hat/mittens to go with it.

THANK YOU, this is how I partly feel. It's not like I just wore it, my siblings did too. Which means my siblings children will also be offered to wear it (one is due 3 mths after me). So I sort of feel I want it to be something special for my child/ren only...I am big on individuality, meaning, my baby is a new person and that's where I get torn on sentimentality vs individuality. So I was curious if I am crazy for feeling this way.

I wouldn't call you crazy for how you feel...i get how you feel...
however, as a girl with a VERY small family and even fewer 'family tradition's...i would cling to anything like that....something that can be passed among family members...that's very special..

I personally think its an even better tradition if your DC's cousins are brought home in the same outfit! I LOVE the idea!
My DH's family has a family bassinett, DS was like the 20th child to sleep in that basinnet. I used it with pride knowing that his cousin used it just a year prior!

It would depend if I liked it or not. Does she have a blanket or something else that she used?
I have a blanket from when I was brought home so I used that with DD. There was a boy version made but not used so I will use that for DS.

Oh me too - I would totally use it. What a family heirloom it is and what great stories you can tell your  when you show her her coming home pictures.

Same here. My mom couldn't find my coming-home outfit, but I would definitely use it if she knew where it was.
