Would this pizz you off?

First I will start out by saying I had an operation last Wednesday and was in the hospital till Saturday. Damien's teacher was aware of all of this. She knows I am home recovering and that DH is doing all things kids related (He is on vaca and usually works a 3 -11 shift so I do everything at night for the kids).

Yesterday was field day. We got a note home from the principal with all dates to remember for June, but nothing specific for field day. They also sent home a volunteer form, I knew I would be in no shape to volunteer and my DH would be taking care of me. This is the extent of field day info we got. I ask Damien if he needs to wear his "school t-shirt" he says he needs to wear a white shirt. I then say your not supposed to wear your "class t-shirt" (He has one for the school and one with his teacher's name) so he says I'll wear my class t-shirt I ask my DH where all his school papers are so I can see if we have instructions for it, nothing at all. He comes home and his face and neck are really sunburned. Then gets upset with me that I didn't send in sunscreen, all the other kids Mom's sent sunscreen. So I feel horrible of courseChat Icon Then he tells me he had to borrow a white t-shirt from the nurseChat Icon So I'm kind a pizzed that no kind of note was sent home, I mean I get one for every other frigging thingChat Icon I know if it had been a normal day I would have thought of the sunscreen myself, but I'm in pain and taking pain killers so I a little fuzzy. Plus I feel like no one noticed how red he was getting? They could have called and we would have ran up with sunscreen or he could have used someone else's.
I know part of it is I loved his teacher so much and she had a baby and I'm not that thrilled with the leave replacement. Thanks for listening to my vent!

I'd be annoyed.. but I don't think I'd be 'pizzed'. I mean - the schools are so funny about what they are and aren't allowed to do. I think they SHOULD have called you though.

I hope you are recovering from whatever surgery you had!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I wouldn't be annoyed at the teacher. I'd be annoyed at myself & the situation.

For the t-shirt, yes a note should have been sent home. Rather than wait for my kids to get the note, I looked it up on our district's website. If it wasn't there, I was going to call.

For the sunburn, it would bother me too but often times with sunburn you don't see it until it's too late. We were told to put it on before dropping them off so the teachers had no way of knowing who had it & who didn't. They also are not allow to apply it unless there is a note on file from the doctor ala daycares.

My sons teacher never sent home the time of his kindergarten show...or even that it was a show. We all had to figure it out.Chat Icon

I woukd be annoyed, but I think the sunscreen is sort of the parents responsibility. I can't understand not sending a notice about the shirt.

Re: Would this pizz you off?

How did everyone else find out about the white shirts? At least the nurse had one for him. At Jordans field day there was a kid who's mom forgot and she wore a dress and flip flops and was crying on the sidelines. I ran home and got her some old sneakers of Jordans and some clothes. They had nothing for her. Also, I think it is MY responsibility to put sunblock on my kid when she goes to school. That being said, I have forgotten, but that was my fault.
We all make mistakes, and that is okChat Icon

Re: Would this pizz you off?

I actually forgot to put sunscreen on my son this year and his teacher made him put some on before they went outside. I am sooo glad she did because that day it was like 90 degrees!!!!
