I think I am going to do Ivory Snow for 3 small bottles like I did with DS and then the free and clear. I dont want to fall into the pattern that I did for one and not the other. And even though it is only detergent I still feel guilty in some odd way.

From what my ped told me you should use a product like Dreft for at least the first year.

I thought they were all the same, but she said regular detergent is too harsh for the baby stuff - it can remove the fire retardant that is put on the material for babies clothes.

Yes because you aren't sure if baby #2 could have allergic reactions to detergeants.
I used Dreft until the bottle ran out. Then I realized that the baby is on my shoulder which was washed in regular detergeant and wasn't having reactions.

I use Baby All. Her skin is very sensitive though.

With my first, I had one bottle of Dreft and when that was done, Andrew's clothes got washed with Tide like ours did.

I did the same for Lauren. However, she has super sensitive skin and exzema, so I am continuing to use the Dreft on her clothes.

Most of the time I use All free and clear for Nate. I have a few things to wash for this baby and I'll be using the All.

That's pretty much what I do. I have the gue bottle of Dreft and prewashed all of his stuff. Then for the first 2 months all of his stuff was done in Dreft, now if he only has a couple of dirty things I throw them in with our clothes and regular detergent. If he has a full load of laundry I use the Dreft.
Honestly, I only use the Dreft because it's there. His face is always against our clothes and has been from day one, so I don't see what the big deal is.
