Re: WINTER CLOTHING ?: How do you dress your infant...

DS has been given snow suits each year and has yet to wear them.

The first winter he was 5 months or so (born in July)...

I used that thing that goes in the car seat and zippered up

I used to put them in the infant seat in the house with no jacket, put a warm blanket over them, have the car already warmed up and just bring them out to the car that way.

DS is almost 5 months. I plan on just using the Bundle Me, with a fleece jacket I got at Children's Place.

Just a thought to throw out there - Your son will be 8 months by December and may not be in the infant carrier anymore - they get really heavy. So you may want to get a winter jacket for him. Childrens Place usually has some pretty cheap snowsuits too - just incase it snows and you want to take some pictures in it.

Thanks. Yeah I didn't think of it -- that he would out grow the carrier.

Re: WINTER CLOTHING ?: How do you dress your infant...

I found snow suits or one piece things way too much work! I was sweating by the time we were head out the door.

So, instead I used the Bundle me, got a medium weight jacket and bought these fuzzy pants (with feet) from the gap when it was really cold!

We hardly used them (the pants) and the babies were really warm all winter!

You really shouldn't dress babies (or toddlers) in bulky coats in their carseat. In the event of a crash, the straps compress on the coat and the baby can be ejected. I used a blanket over the carrier and it was fine.

I had my son in a fleece one piece when he was 2months old in december..by the following year 14 months, old, he wore a 3/4 length winter coat.

What's there to not understand about it? The bulkier the coat, the more you have to loosen the straps. So when you get into an accident, the force compresses the coat and creates a large gap between the harness and their body, thus possibly ejecting them.

Unless you have a long walk, I don't think she'll freeze Chat Icon I never put a coat on DD. It's a ten second walk to my car. I bring it and if we have a long walk or going to be outside, I put it on her. The car is nice and toasty and a blanket is warm enough.

You could always put the coat on backwards so the arms are in the sleeves and the coat rests on her belly.

The Bundle Me is very warm. I used to use that plus blankets but I realized that he was getting too warm in there. The blankets were not even necessary.

I live in a condo though and don't have an automatic starter so the walk is farther and the car won't be warm. i'm going to have to figure something out.

Re: WINTER CLOTHING ?: How do you dress your infant...

We have a little bit of a walk too and I dont have starters either. I bought DS this coat, which is lined, but still not too bulky. I figured I would keep a warm blanket in the car..in case I needed to put something extra on him when he was in his car seat. Also, I have the bundle me on the stroller, so when we leave the house and walk to the car...he will be kept warm in that.

We just used the Bundle Me. He was also always dressed in layer. I never used the snowsuit.
