Williston Park area??

Hey..Dh and I are lookin the near future for homes either in Garden City South, Franklin Square, Floral Park, or Williston Park....I know about the school districts for F.P, and Franklin Square...however, I have no clue about Mineola district (some homes are zoned to that district in W.P.) please tell me what you think of the school district...
also if you live in Williston Park..what do you like about that area??

My grandparents and aunt live in Willi Park.

LOVE it there. Close to Jericho, Hillside Ave... cute little shops along Willis Ave. Gino's Pizza on Willis Ave has the BEST sicilian pizza. It's very neighborly as well.

Only downfall IMO - they still blow their fire whistle - it's sooooo loud. I think they do it at noon and 6pm. It's definitely jarring.

We rented in Mineola for several years and I loved the location - so close to so many things! But I never heard great things about their SD. The prices of homes in Mineola SD and the others (Herricks, etc) varied greatly.

I would try and stick with Herricks, East Williston or one of the others.

We're looking in Williston Park too. I get the sense that people like the Williston Park/Herricks part better but I am not sure why. It seems that the Herricks district is considered better but I am not sure why because we just started looking and getting to know the area too.

We're also looking in Floral Park but there does not seem to be much available right now that we like.

It depends what school district you are looking at. If you are looking in Williston Park w/ the Mineola schools, the taxes are not as high as the Herricks SD. It's a nice area close by everything. My only con is that the houses are very close together.

I live in East Williston and absolutely love everything about the area...I grew up here. As far as mineola schools - I believe they are good. My friends mom is areading teacher in the school that was a police academy and they have avery innovated and advanced reading program there. My sister in law grew up on Yale street and went to mineola, now she's a Dr. so it can't be that bad!

I work in Williston Park and think it's a great little village. The pool is amazing, shopping is convenient, very close to Jericho Tpk and the NSP.

Williston Park is a great town! It has a liot to offer. East Williston is a beautiful town too!

thanks ladies...i'd love to live in east williston but that is a very expensive area... not within in my price range. I'm getting the feeling that herricks school district is a lot better than mineola.. I grew up in floral park and i'd love to stick with that area especially the village or franklin square .. what a hard decision... dh works in manhattan and i work in queens...these areas are most convient for both...anyone else have other areas they recommend... it would be greatly appreciated!!
