why doesnt CIO work the second time??
CIO worked great the 1st time we did it. DS was 5 months old. We went away to my parents for the weekend, my sleep training was ruined, and I had to re-do it. It is not working like last time, and it's 10x worse to listen to. He is not teething, not hungry, not wet. He just wants to be picked up. Why isn't it working this time???

How old is he now? As they get older they are much more aware and their needs/wants change.
CIO isn't a magic solution that works perfectly for everyone. Unfortunately there is no magic solution!

The inconsistency is confusing for them, but also, your perspective may be different now. By comparison, it may just seem a lot worse. Hang in there

he is 6 months old now. i let him cry for 25 minutes, i couldn't take it anymore. i picked him up (i know, i know) and he let out two HUGE LOUD burps, and immediately stopped crying. i put him down again, awake, and he wiggled a little and then went to sleep. i'm a bad mommy for leaving him screaming with his lil gas pain!

you're right. DH told me to leave and take a walk so as not to listen to the crying but i insisted on staying and i said if he's been crying this hard this long, its not like him, something is up... *sniffle* thank you.
