Who did you/will you invite to your DCs 1st bday?
I was going to post this on relationships but thought I'd get more responses here.
Some of DH's extended family has 1st bdays coming up over the next several months. From what I've been told there will be a lot of people including friends of the grandparents. Growing up my grandparents friends were never at my bday parties. Are you inviting your parents friends to your DC's bday party?

We only invited one of my MIL's friends but she has been a family friend since DH was a baby. DH wanted to invite her.
Other than that, I would say no.

I did invite 2 of my moms friends, but she is pretty close with Travis, she is more like family.
But at Travis bday party, we invited family and a handful of friends.

My MIL is very close to a few of her friends so we always invite them to the big parties we have, including my DC's first birthdays. My DH knows them since he was a kid so they are like family.

We will only be inviting our parents, our siblings and our nieces and nephews. This will be about 30 people!
We had a big Christening and it is just too much to have another big party considering the size of our family. If we were to have a big party, we would not have invited friends of our parents. The numbers would be out of control.

While some of my mom's friends were invited to the christening, we did not invite them to DS' 1st birthday. It was only our families and our close friends.

No we only invited family and friends of ours. It was a pretty big party. Since then we have only had a small family party.

We had DDs first birthday at home and only invited immediate family and close friends with kids roughly the same age.

we had 80 adults. but it was broken down by:
my family - it went to 3rd cousins, but thats only because i have 10 people in my family
DH's family - aunts, uncles and first cousins
my moms friends and their kids - known them since birth
and the rest were our friends, which made up of more than half. we have a very tight group and you can't invite one without the other.

no one!
and I have no regrets.. it was her first.. it was about us, family just the three of us. It was one year since we spent those days in the hospital. It was about our family, our way through what had been a very challanging year. It was a time to reflect on her and how much she's changed and how much WE'VE changed.
Sure family is great and important but for her 1st bday... it was just us.
Her second we invited close family to the zoo with us. Her 3rd will probably include classmates.
