Who did you use for your evalution for ADHD?
Ava is too old for Marion Solomon now, so I called LIJ for an eval, they are booking for October!!!!
Where else can I go?
I have been to Marci SIlverman before and was less than impressed.

Ugh can't stand Silverman, I could go on and on!
We used a neurologist, Dr. D. She is in the same office as Silverman at Pediatric Specialty care in the West Islip location.

It takes a while to get a neurologist appt. Did they put you on the list for a cancellation? LIJ is one of the best, but make sure they give you a comprehensive report and include other informants. You can also try Dr. Gregg Rosen, in Plainview (I think).

My SIL used Dr. Scherzer (sp?) through Stony Brook. I was impressed with his feedback. He's a little older and more conservative.
I have seen/evaluated several children who used Dr. Silverman- I agree she is WAY off.

I have seen/evaluated several children who used Dr. Silverman- I agree she is WAY off.
Dr. Scherzer is horrible from what I have heard. I had 3 friends that went to him tell me that in the past year. They all subsequently went somewhere else. Unfortunately he's one of the few developmental peds that takes insurance.

I happen to be a speech pathologist who works with the ped population and in relation to my niece's needs he was absolutely correct. All of the information my niece's developmental preschool, preschool teacher, speech pathologist, and OT failed to recognize. He spent extensive time with my sister in law and her husband and asked insightful questions, which MANY neurologists and dev ped's fail to do. When I ask parents for feedback on Neuros and Peds, sometimes they don't even do ANYTHING with the children. Long story short, sure you have to be comfortable and trusting of the Dr. and his/her assessment of your child, but always go for a second opinion, a new set of eyes regardless.
