Where would you put the family room for now?

So we moved into our home in July and I still feel like my house isn't a home mainly because their are more rooms to furnish than what we had before and I just can't get to decorating.

Anyway, we have our tv room in this tiny room that is all the way on one side of the house. We our loveseat and the tv and then all of the kids toys in there and we are just getting cramped for space.

We have plans on making the room right off the kitchen our family room but the old owners put wallpaper up that is a very thick fabric and we basically have to re-sheetrock so that is going to take some time.

Now we have our "formal livingroom" that is on our second floor that is all painted and already has our bigger couch (the matching one to the loveseat) and leather chair and our endtables, but I would need 3 babygates because of stairs (it is the only room on that floor). I was thinking of putting the tv in their for now instead of rushing to finish the room downstairs.

So what would you do?


ETA: Staying where we are or moving upstairs are both temporary but we are not sure for how long. DH has no motivation to start the demo on that room right off of the kitchen.
