Where can I get a picture framed and matted?

Or can I do it myself? Where do I buy the materials, and how do you do it?

you can buy the materials there as well. I would do it myself, why spend all that money?

my father recently bought some special framing tool at micheals and said it was def. worth it. I just called him and he said this about it:

"It cuts the edging of the mat and helps makes it square. He said its really hard to get the matting exactly straight when you try to do it on your own. The tool is like a knife blade with an edge so you cut do it perfectly straight. "

I had a pic. framed and matted at Michaels. They did a good job!

Corners on Jericho Tpke in Woodbury does a great job and every so often they have coupons in the local pennysaver.

I second Corners in Syosset. We used them to frame our Ketubah and they did a great job. We got to pick the frame as well as the matting. WE also used the coupons that we received from the local pennysaver. I think it cam to around $250 instead of 500..

It is hanging in our living room and we get compliments all the time.

I had a cross stitch I did framed at Michaels. They did a really nice job, but I didn't think it was too cheap (it was a while ago though, so I really don't remember how much.)
I have matted some smaller things myself, and it is frustrating (though with that tool that was mentioned, it might not be that bad).
I know every week it seems Michaels has 50% off coupons -but usually its for the frame itself, not the entire order, but people here have occasionally mentioned they will put in a 50% off entire order coupon- might be worth waiting for if you're not in a hurry.
