When you take your infant out of daycare for a short period of time...

Does it really take them out of their element?

I have off this week, and kept Riley home yesterday. Planned on bringing her there today, but now it's snowing and I don't want to drive in it with her. Then I pretty much have plans with her Wed and Thurs...

So it looks like Riley might get one day at daycare this week!

Honestly, I'd love to have her with me everywhere but I thought it might help her if I brought her there a couple times for a few hours. Just so she stays 'familiar' with it all (she's not really on any kind of schedule other than feeding...her naps are all over the place).

Does it really make that much of a difference? Just curious...it is what it is, but wondering what the consensus says.Chat Icon

It hasn't affected my DD. I've taken her out when we were on vacation and she adjusted going back just fine.

Well, you know our situation. Samantha is only in daycare 2 days a week. Last week she was only there on Tuesday since daycare was closed Thursday. So today is her first day back in a week of being home.

It really doesn't affect her at all.

I say, if you have things you want to get done drop her off for a few hours on Friday. Chat Icon

thanks ladies!

I guess part of me is also worried that the separation anxiety could set in and taking her out for a period of time could bring it on....Chat Icon oh well, again, it is what it is!Chat Icon

Monday might be a little hard but she will be fine. We have teacher's that keep their kids out all week every vacation and in the summer. The kids always do fine coming back.Chat Icon

my son is there mon-wed (sometimes Thurs) and notoriously gets a slight case of the "Mondays" each Monday. Nothing drastically terrible...just a little sluggish. Whiny. Fights naps. Toddler stuff.

I've had Abby out for a week when she had been ill. It made no difference.

The only difference I have found is that when DS goes back to daycare he is absolutely exhausted for the first day or two, after that back to normal.

I found cherio's does wonder for separation anxiety.

When DS doesn't want me to leave him in daycare - I give him some cereal and he forgets all about me.

I do this too!

It depends on the aide that is in the room when I drop DD off. If it's someone she doesn't know, it's a very difficult drop off. All I have to do is put her down at the table, give her a handful of cheerios and she's like "Mommy? Mommy who?"
