I think the idea should be introduced around 2. I just bought ds a potty but haven't taken it out of the box yet. He's 21 mos & just started telling me when he goes poopie

Re: when to potty train a boy?

I think all boys are different. I know a few boys my sons age ( 2) who are ready now. I know my son is NO WHERE near ready. He knows what a potty is, but doesnt understand that pee and what he does goes in there.

Most boys are not ready till closer to 3, btu I hear if you work on it, a lot mroe these days get it done much earlier.

Depends on the child ya know?

We were told they should be able to pull their pants down and up ( my son cannot do this yet) and or take them off .....and can tell you when they are going.

DS# 1 was completely PTed at 27 months.
DS# 2 was completely trained at 28 months.

Re: when to potty train a boy?

We thought DS was late, since he was trained well after 3yo. However, I'm starting to think that the DD is going to be even later! She turns 3 this month, and shows no real interest in learning.

In *my* experience, the 2nd one is harder, and girls are harder than boys..... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

(although, a sample size of 2 isn't really that reliable.... Chat Icon Chat Icon )
