When to go up a size in nipples? UPDATE: Went up a size--is this normal?
DS is about a month and it just seems to take forever to finish a bottle with all his breaks. Should I go up a size already, or is all this stopping (and it doesn't seem to be gas related) and starting normal? I keep reading it should be 10-15min for a bottle, and we can go 30 -45 to get through one.
Update: OK, so we went up a size. He took 2 oz with the new nipple and we kept stopping after every couple sips. Then he wouldn't take anymore but was still hungry. I put the old nipple back on and he took the rest. Should I keep up trying the bigger nipple or was this his way of saying he wasn't ready?

yup give it a shot. He might choke a little at first before he gets the hang of it, just go slow at first. Sounds like he is ready though!

DD is five weeks old and we use the slow ones still. She gets through the bottle in about 15 minutes (4 ozs).

Jeremy is 8 months and we are still using level 1. I am nervous because I am still nursing. I don't want him to get so frustrated while BF that he will want to stop

I went up a size about 2 weeks ago (when dd was 5 weeks) when we switched to a thicker formula and she was struggling to get it out of the nipple
she has been doing fine with the new one

Why do you stop in the middle of your DS from drinking? Do you take the bottle out of his mouth or do you just tip the bottle down?

ok...I am tired,,.,I took this that your nipples went up a size,...
if u try a bigger nipple does he get gas from swallowing too fast> I thought u go up at 2 months...

ok...I am tired,,.,I took this that your nipples went up a size,...
LOL!
I don't stop him--he stops himself and pushes the nipple out of his mouth. I tried a couple last night and today and he's doing much better on the bigger nipple. It's very messy, but it gets better each time.
