When switching from one pratice to another? Transfering medical file
What is a reasonable amount of time to give one PED practice to transfer file to another PED practice?

a few days, no more than a week. all they have to do is photocopy and mail.
i usually request the files for myself and they have them ready by that afternoon or the next day. i'd give them a few days if they are busy. but they should be in the mail no more than 3 days after you request them.

Let me guess, CM group giving u a hard time. Did u find a practice u like? They gave me a hard time getting DD med. records. I had to be on their case and threaten to come down to speak to someone. Needless to say they were ticked we switched but too bad, they were terrible.
We are soo much happier now.

Yup!!!! I don't care if they are mad. That's mostly because of the front desk anyway. I can't take it anymore. I will call them by tomorrow to make sure they understand that it's not debateble.
We are going to the Pediatric Health Associates practice.

no more than a week! I work in a dental office and we usually mail out copies of records within a day or 2 after someones requests them.

I always had them faxed and I have switched 4 times. It never took more than a day. It is usually only the vaccinations and I think there weight/height stats.

I switched from that practice as well and it took them about 1 week or 1.5 if I remember correctly.

How did you request them? By law they have to transfer them but many times the offices don't want to do so. You should request the records in writing. Give them a specific date that they must transfer them by (give them a week). They CAN charge you to send the records though so don't be surprised if they request money to do so. Some places will charge others won't.

Yep, I sure do!! I am sooo happy to be rid of them. They were so lazy and rude about everything.

Yep, I sure do!! I am sooo happy to be rid of them. They were so lazy and rude about everything.
wow I had such bad experience w/ the staff there. one chick was talking on the phone w/ her friend, I waited for a while to make an appointment. makes me wonder where they hire these dummies from, and the nurse was not much better ugh, hated that place. I switched DS at 6 weeks. my new PED had to take DS w/out having his records! ridiculous 
ETS I was in the Bayside office I guess plainview is just as bad
