When does a credit hit show up on your report?
We want to switch insurance companies and from what I've been told is that they check your credit report now so I was wondering if they pull your credit, how long after does it show up and lower your score? Do they update it monthly or as soon as they pull it? Thanks!

I always thought it was a "soft" inquiry and doesn't affect your credit rate.

I always thought it was a "soft" inquiry and doesn't affect your credit rate.
Insurance pulls are usually hard inquiries.

I never even knew insurance co's pull your credit rating! I must live in a box.
Why would it be a hard inquiry? I always presumed those were only when you're attempting to get a loan, get a credit card.... something that would directly affect your rating and credit worthiness....

Its usually a hard inquiry. If you have a good credit score it should not make enough of a difference to effect you negatively (about a 2-4 point drop).
