When can we start introducing "big kid" foods...

like scrambled eggs, little pancakes or french toast sticks, cheese? DS is 8 1/2 months old. I am just curious when we can start giving those foods. Do you think I can give him the flavored oatmeal packets now?

I started my kids on big food almost immediately (around 5 months), so I would go for it. Chat Icon

We did around 9 months, although we waited until 12 months for the eggs since a lot of kids can have allergies to them. Our ped gave us the okay for eggs at 12 months.

I started most of those foods around 5-6 months, so I'd say you're good to go.

Re: When can we start introducing "big kid" foods...

I just took DS to the ped. at 7 months. He said over the next 10-12 weeks to start introducing baby food meats, egg yolks, yogurt, pancakes, pastina and that kind of stuff. Space it out to see if he reacts to anything, of course. My DS has been eating baby food meats for 3 weeks or so before we visited the dr so that was already done so I will start with the egg.

Well DS is 8 1/2 months and we already do the zweibacks, pastina and yogurt but he is getting bored with the baby food plus he has no teeth. I will start introducing some of the others.

Re: When can we start introducing "big kid" foods...

our ped. said over the next 3 months start with

meats- she did fine so then start
yogurt- still on it, and is doing fine

the next one is eggs (hard boiled yellow part)

then 3 weeks later if no reation
pancakes

which then would lead us to our next appointment in Feb and she will be 9 months then, so i think you should start....

we tried pastina last night and it did not go so well.............

DD is 7.5 months and we have started meats (just chicken and turkey so far) and yogurt, in addition to her regular fruit and veggie purees. We're trying to give her more texture, but she is having some trouble with chunky food - last night's avacado wasnt going too well until we pureed it til smooth.
