When and are you allowed to use public school facilities....
Very random question -
Are you allowed to use the public school tracks during school hours? and, during football /lacrosse/soccer practices. They practice on the field in the middle by me.
Obviously I am assuming it's a no or frowned upon during track practice...
We just moved in this past summer to a house that is very close to our HS. I was using the track almost everyday over the summer.
Now that Spring time is coming around and we are hopefully getting some warmer weather, I would love to get some outside runs in again...

When and are you allowed to use public school facilities....
I work at a HS and live very close to the HS in my own district. It may be different per district but in the one I teach at, members of the community are welcome to use the track whenever the gates are unlocked with the exception of when there are high school games in progress. You are allowed to use the facilities during practices, but you do so at your own risk realizing that you may get bumped into/knocked down by a student, trip on a hurdle, hit by a lacrosse ball, etc.

I would say no to using it during school hours. That seems like a huge safety issue to have strangers out there with the kids.

lol in all seriousness....
if youre dressed appropriately, go for it. if they ask you to leave, then leave. but i dont think it will be a problem. I remember seeing people walk around my hs rack all the time after school hours.

People use the track all the time when school is in session. The only time the public would not be able to use it is when there is a game or when the track is closed.

I would call the school and ask. Hell. I pay 10k to the schools in taxes. I damn well should be able to use the track :)
