Whats good to do Upstate?
Looking to venture up there but not too far!
What can We do?
Will have niece & nephew with us!

How far do you want to go? The Lake George area is nice, and lots to do for the kids (the lake, water parks, etc.). I love Saratoga--they have a racetrack which is fun for the day, and some really nice parks and outdoor things.
I love Ithaca but it is further--probably 5 hours from LI.

Lake George has:
Great Escape Six Flags Park
A hotel across the street from it with an indoor waterpark, only available if you stay in the hotel though
Outlets
Waterslide World!!!!!
A wee little one park
beaches in the village of Lake George
Many hotels of differing degrees of $$
Ausable Chasm not too far away
Gondola to the top of Gore Mountain for amazing views
Saratoga has:
The racetrack!!! (my personal fave) That's from the end of July to the beginning of September, and will be totally insanely crowded.
Upscale boutiques and shops
Great restaurants
more adult than kid friendly

How far is Lake George from Long Island?
Depending on how you drive, 3 1/2-4 hours
approx 225 miles from the Valley Stream area
