what will they tell me at my 1st tri ultrascreen?

i'm going Wed. i know they'll be taking measurement etc but will they till me the measurements? we meet with genetic counselor first. thanks
will it look different than the sono at the doc's office

For me, they just took the measurements and didn't tell me anything. The Dr as great though, he explained EVERYTHING to us. We did ask if they could tell the sex--he and nurse said it was too early. They also drew blood.

It was the same type of 2D sono as in the Dr's office, ours also had 3D pics in B&W.

They took measurements and blood. We weren't told anything that day as they had to analyze the tests. They said they'd call if there was anything. Turned out, we just had a jumping baby with no signs of downs!

Ours told us everything and more!

He did all the crown to rump measurements, heard the heartbeat and measured the heartrate, the nuchael measurements, the 'butterfly' on the brain, the hands and fists clenching, checked for club feet, checked the spine.
He explained everything he was looking at and why everything looked really good.

Mine told me the measurements, I asked for the CR length and they told me the measurement for the back of the babys neck (the down syndrome measurement)...but I didn't know what it was supposed to be anyway. They said that all looked perfectly normal. I have to wait for the blood test to come back (some time this week) if they don't call me then there were no problems. I decided not to meet w/the genetic counselor if they do not call me.

what's the CR length (sorry)? I'm supposed to meet with the genetic counselor first that day and then get the sono...

For the baby's back of the neck, you are looking for numbers under 2.5 mm or 2.5 cm I believe - whatever measurement they use.
If they see two nose bones, looks like a "=" sign on screen. That is a good sign. Babies with down syndrome usually do not have those bones.

Also you want to see the butterfly on the top of the head for the tri-18 & tri-13 test. Also, the if the baby can make fists is good - babies with tri-13/18 usually cannot.

They didnt tell me anything really at the ultrascreen except that I have placenta previa. But nothing about the baby. I guess they like to wait until the genetic counselor meeting.
