What were you quoted for refinishing your hardwood floors?

I am factoring in that there will likely be some difference in price b/c we live in a different state, but I'm curious as to what others have recently been quoted per sq foot to have hardwood floors refinished.

We were just quoted $2.00/sq foot for refinishing (natural stain, semi-gloss finish). We are refinishing approx 1100 sq feet.

Does this sound about right? Too high or is it low? I'm seeing the big # and having sticker shock (probably irrationally).

We live in the DC metro area (Maryland).

We had ours done for $1.50/sq foot over the summer here in New York. That was for oil based poly. The water based was 2.00/sq foot.

Wow, we were quoted much higher, like close to 2.50 a sqft.

we were quoted $375 for a 16x12 room - that's just under $2 - I guess that's pretty good!

I'm not sure of the square footage - but my downstairs is a set up like a cape. We had the whole downstairs minus the kitchen done for $1200 including stain.
