What type of mattress for toddler / twin bed

Do you buy a nice pillow top one or are you still supposed to be something firm when transitioning a toddler from crib to their own bed? DD is 2 1.2 and I am trying to get her out of our bed which has a pillow top mattress into her own bed.

Pillow top is fine. The firm is most important for an infant really. I think your DD would love to be in a plush bed. My DD is 4 and was in a crib and then a toddler bed so she was with a firm crib mattress for 4 years. We recently put her in a twin with a plush top and she is in heaven.
