What the heck was going on at Sunrise and Nicholls this AM?
I was southbound on Nicholls at the Sunrise merge and the traffic eastbound was blocked off right at the overpass; lots of cop cars and emergency vehicles but I couldn't see at all what had happened. I hope everything is OK

A man apparently leaped to his death from an overpass in Bayport Wednesday morning, officials said.
Police said the eastbound Sunrise Highway service road was closed west of Nicolls Road, Exit 51. The exit from Sunrise Highway to Nicolls Road also has been closed, police said. It was not immediately clear how long the closures will last.
A Suffolk County police spokeswoman said only that police were "investigating what appears to be a noncriminal death." A Suffolk County Sheriffs Office spokesperson said police told the agency it was an apparent suicide and the road was closed for investigation.
The jump was reported at 8:52 a.m., police said.

Just knew what that was. We passed by just at the time it seemed to happen. I saw the truck parked a the top of the bridge and it could only mean one thing

Ugh. Awful. Not to be a smartasss, but is that really that high to be fatal? I grew up in bayport, i wonder if he was from there and if i knew him.
