I'm not sure of the absolute earliest (it all depends on the machines used at the offices). With that said, I founf out at 14 weeks and was confirmed again at 17 weeks. With my DD it was 20 weeks. Most dr. offices will allow the Level II between 16-20 weeks.

I'm going at 19 weeks. They refused to give it to me any earlier. You're suppossed to go at 20 weeks b/c they measure the baby and check the growth. But at 19 weeks I guess it's fine.

I had a sono in a labor & delivery dept (I was having pains& was being observed) @ about wk 16 & the dr asked if we wanted to know the gender because she might be able to tell- we said yes, & she told us that she thought it was a girl, @ our level II (20 wks) we found out its a boy- the testicles hadn't desended @ 16 wks.

I know ppl that found out at 15 weeks.
But I think the earlier it is, the more risk that its incorrect.

Most doctors will do it between 18 and 20 weeks. The closer to 20 weeks, the better chance they have of being accurate, I think.

I've read around 14 weeks you might be able to tell, though if you wait until 20, the person reading the sonogram is more likely to tell you the correct sex.
It's hard, but I would wait till 20. Your doctor may not do this sooner anyway. You'll know soon!
