What kind of milk is your 2 year old drinking?

Sarah would drink milk all day long if I let her, but she's still on whole milk and I worry about the fat.

She will drink water or watered down juice if I give it to her, but it's usually tears for a while until she gives up.

My cousin said her kids went to skim milk at 2. Just wondering if it's normal to go all the way from whole milk to skim milk.

my 8 year old is still drinking whole milk but he needs the fat! i would ask the ped before switching over!

Unless you are concerned about her weight, I'd leave her at whole milk. Maybe go to 2%, but I would never give a child skim until they are much older. JMO

Check with your ped to see what they suggest.

ETA: Even I didn't go from whole to skim in one shot.... it was a gradual process.

my son is 2.5 years old. he just had his check up last week, and i dicussed this very topic with his doc. my son was drinking up to 40 oz;s of whole milk a day!!! the doctor was not concerned that it was whole milk he said thats fine and i dont have to switch to a 2%, 1% or skim if i dont want to. the problem is he was drinking too many ounces which will cause over time anemia in kids. he said the perfect amount for 2 year old is 24 ouces a day. so thats what i cut him back to and he drinks juice the rest of the day. did that help at all. i rambled too much i think.

I give Julia 2%, my doctor said that was fine!

Jack is 28 months and on whole milk. My ped says normally at age two they say you can switch to 2%, but Jack is pretty skinny, so he told me to keep him on whole for another year.

I clicked other, maybe I should have picked 2%....

He drinks about 20 ozs of 2% Organic Milk per day. We switched from whole at his 2nd birthday.

DD drinks 1% or skim plus. She stopped drinking whole milk at 16 months she does not like the thickness of it. she eats alot of cheese so i knoew she is still getting the fat

my son will be 3 in a week and he just started drinking milk he hates the taste so he finally started drinking choc. milk with 2% or 1% milk whichever we have in the house he has never drank whole milk we never have it in the house. he also eats alot of cheese and other things that he gets the fat from.

I give Logan whole milk and will continue to do so (he's 17 mo now). He really needs the fat so I don't see any reason to switch him.

Andrew went to 2% or 1% at 2 years old. Pedi said that whole had a lot of fat calories he didn't need (he's a big boy). So we are using 1% most of the time, unless DH forgets and he gets 2%.

Soy milk. I had my 2 year old visit last week and it didn't come up. B ut Kevin is lactose intolerant so there isn't much of an option for him. He only drinks really a glass in the morning and one at night and a maybe a little here and there throughout the day. So maybe 20 oz a day.

My son is 22 months and he is on while milk. I was a littel concered about the fat content but they do need the fat at this age.

From whole directly to skim is a little too radical. What happened to 2% or 1% ?

Rebecca went to 2% at 2. She's over the 110th percentile in height and weight!!! so it was fine.

We switched to 1% at 2.
