Talk show queen Ellen DeGeneres is caught in the middle of a doggy tug of war that has left an innocent girl in tears.
Ellen and her girlfriend, Portia de Rossi, adopted Iggy (a Brussels Griffon mix) from Mutts and Moms, a dog adoption agency. But things didn't work out as Ellen planned -- her cats didn't get along with Iggy -- so she gave the pooch to her hairdresser, who has two kids, including 12-year-old Ruby.
Last night, a rep from the agency came to the hairdresser's home, claiming Ellen violated the contract by not informing the agency of the hand-off. The rep demanded to take the dog away. Ellen' s position -- yeah, she should have notified the agency, but she found a loving home and isn't that what counts? The agency rep stuck to her guns and removed the dog with cops present. Ruby is heartbroken; reduced to tears.
Ellen says, "I kept saying, 'If you want to be mad at me, be mad at me, but don't take it out on the family. Don't take it out on the dog.'"

she got a dog from a rescue organization and she tried to traint he dog but it didnt work out with her cats so she gave the dog to a family that she knows that has a dog and 2 little girls. The dog was doing GREAT with the family and they loved him.
The rescue organization called Ellen to ask her how the dog was doing and she told them the truth that she gave the dog to friends and he is doing great!
The rescue organization told her that she signed a paper that said that if she cant keep the dog it has to go back to the organinzation that she could not give it to anyone else.
With that, the organization went and took the dog back from the family and everyone is very sad!!

Thank you. That's disgraceful. The dog had a loving home and was well taken care of, why do this? Hopefully they will reconsider.

If the agency was worth their salt, they would have first had Ellen introduce the dog to the cats prior to finalizing the adoption.
Now that being said, they also could have gone to the hairdresser's home, took in the situation and drew up new adoption papers if everything in the new home was on the up and up.
I really think the agency deserves a kick in teeth here.

They should be ashamed. What difference does it make if Ellen finds the dog a good home or they do? I can understand checking out the new home and making sure the dog is doing well, but, to take it away like they did is horrendous.

I agree- they should have agreed to a "trial run" knowing that there were other animals in the home. And I would bet that there are plenty of other animals who need homes, and yet they are taking one away who was being well cared for.

That's really sad and I think the agency should have taken the situation into consideration and checked on the new family...
But, in defense of the agency I can understand why they do these things. When we adopted a dog a long time ago, the worker at the shelter told us that hey have these policies in place as a deterrent to make sure animals are not adopted and then used as bait in dog fighting pits, sold to animal experiment companies or other terrible things.
I do hope the agency gives the dog back to the little girl.

I saw Ellen on E.T tonight and they showed a clip of her on her show today. She was hysterical crying!!

I saw the clip. And I really do feel bad for her. She only meant well. And it's not like we are talking about Britney Spears who has the worst reputation.
The agency should have checked out the new family's home. Given the situation a fair assessment and made a decision versus ripping the dog out of the home.

EXACTLY I email the agency. I also emailed everyone in my address book and asked they email them also. If you go on the pet board you can watch the video. Honestly ELLEN was HYSTERICAL. I was crying WITH HER

Yes they showed up at her hairdressers house WITH COPS and took the dog away from the 2 children ages 11 and 12

This whole situation disgusts me so much.... Celebs get special treatment for stuff all of the time that they don't deserve (getting out of DUI, cops looking hte other way) I just feel that this is a situation where the shelter could have taken advantage of Ellen's celeb status and repuation realizing that the dog was in a loving home. Had they have handeled this differently there could have been so much good publicity for their shelter and cause rather then the mess that there is now
