What do you think of this vacation Idea...
Last year we went on a cruise with DS. His 1st one. We are a one income family and can't really do a cruise every year. This year we do not have any big vacation plans. So we decided to do something small but fun. I thought of going to riverhead for a few days. We could go to:Splishsplash, the aquarium, the dinosaur museum, and to the tanger outlets (that's really for the adults...hee hee). What do you think. I spoke to a friend of mine who also does not have any big vacation plans and she is willing to go with us. They have a son too. Her DS and mine are 5 1/2 months apart. What do you all think of this idea. We just want something simple and not too far away.

Sounds like a great time! I think people underestimate the value of vacationing in their hometown! Just think of the number of people that come to LI each year to vacation and it is in your backyard. Enjoy!

Exactly! I mean I don't live in LI i'm in Queens but still it's not far away. It's like taking advantage of what you have. Take the city for instance. People from all over the world come to see the statue of liberty and I hardly ever go and it's so close to home.

Great idea and remember you are near the north fork so could stay out there or take a day trip etc. .Lots to do out east

You know I was just doing a search and I get 2 locations but they are not in this state. I did a search on yahoo for "dinosaur walk museum" and it's listed as an attraction but can't find a website link to the location in riverhead.
