I'm not using one...I just plan on putting bottle in a hot mug of water to warm it up

I guess that didn't help Chat Icon

I personally think they are unnecessary. I bottle feed only and just make the bottles room-temp with the powder formula mix.

I boil my water and then pour it into a Brita when it cools, that I keep out on my kitchen counter.

You're not going to heat up the bottles anyways when you are out and about, KWIM?

Also saves a lot of time at night when he wakes up. I keep bottle water on my night-stand and several pre-made bottles I just need to shake-up once the water is added.

I did the same for DS. I found the bottle warmer did not always warm evenly, and also over-warmed sometimes. The warm water in a mug or bowl worked beautifully.

bottle warmers are highly innacurate. I tried room temperature with my daughter at first but she CLEARLY preffered warm food, i mean so do we at many meals. We enjoy warm soup, a hot meal etc. So what i did while she was using powder (i had to go to RTF as she had an allergy to a powder ingredient) was use a Thermos. Buy a large thermos- boil your water and cool it until the desire temperature, test on wrist so that it is nice and warm, maybe a bit warmer than you want, pour that into the large thermos and use that for the day or until all gone. It makes mixing formula easier too since the water is warm and it is fast.

I bought one with dd and it made the BM scolding hot!! it was horrible. I read its not good to warm BM in those, so stopped using. My sil would warm water in a plug in tea pot and pour into bowl and put bottle in and let sit a bit.. Worked Perfectly!! Never made the milk scalding like the warmer.

eta: also warmers leave hot spots in the liquid.

I'm obviously in the minority here, but I've been telling all of my pregnant friends to buy a bottle warmer. DD goes from zero to meltdown in about 60 seconds when she's hungry (mostly because she sleeps so long), and this thing has been a true lifesaver.

It takes some trial and error to figure out how much water to use with how many ounces of BM, but once you find the right amount it's perfect.

For me, it's one of those things I can't live without. It only takes 2 minutes to heat up a bottle!

We've been using this one.

I kept a small pot next to my sink and filled it with hot water. I would put the bottle in there for about 30 seconds and that was it, just to take the chill out.

Re: What bottle warmer does everyone use or will be using?

I didn't bother with a bottle warmer with baby #1 and don't plan on using one this time either. For the times I used frozen BM or formula, I heated the bottle in warm water.

If you know anyone who works in a hospital, see if they can get you a suction canister. Those things are the perfect size for warming up bottles. DH got a few for me because he saw nurses heating bottles by filling them with warm tap water and it worked like a charm!

Exactly what I did with DS and will do again.
IMO bottle warmers are a waste and not necessary.

I had a bottle warmer and it was such a PITA. It took too long and honestly, room temperature was so much better and easier. Especially in the middle of the night and when you are out.

I agree. We didnt have one in the beginning and it was a PITA warming it in hot water. Listening to a crying/screaming baby at 3 am is not fun. Heating in hot water takes a while. I find the warmer to work great. It takes the chill out of the bottle. I have never had a problem with it being to warm.
