what are/were your 7month olds eating?

Luca is a really good eater and is eating more and more table food every day. Is it ok to start replacing his cereal with real food? For example, he's had tastes of Eggo waffles and likes them. So today I didn't give him any cereal and he ate almost an entire Eggo instead. He's still getting cereal at dinner time, but is once a day enough?
And just for a quick reference, here's the stuff he eats... Stage 2 fruits and veggies, chopped meat (like hamburger or meatballs), small pieces of chicken or turkey, Yobaby! yogurt, small pieces of cheese, Cheerios, Puffs, pieces of peaches, watermelon or cantalope, toast, pasta.

Yeah he eats all that? DS does not have ANY teeth yet. He eats stage 2 veggies, fruit & meats along w/ cereal and yobaby. Occasionally fruit in the netting bag. Maybe I should take it up a notch...Chat Icon Chat Icon

I have also tried Earth's Best Pastina and puffs (broken up) he does not try to eat it, he tries to get it out of his mouth. I have to keep offering it to him so he gets a hang of it.

Luca does have 4 teeth, so maybe that's why I feel comfortable giving him so much.
I forgot to mention that he aslo eats pasta and seems to really like it. I think that would be a good food for you to introduce because they don't really need teeth.

DD doesn't have any teeth either- she mostly just eats fruits, veggies & cereals. I'm going to introduce yogurt this w/e and I was going to make my own meat meals (boil chicken and food process with cooked brown rice).

DD is now 9 months..and still no teeth Chat Icon

I have given her stage 2 everything...meats/veggies/fruits, she eats most of them, along with arrorroot cookies as a snack or Cherios/puffs. I have given her tastes of things from my plate....mashed potatoes, pasta, turkey, cheese but I'm hesitant to try anything else because I'm afraid that with no teeth she can't eat it Chat Icon

My DD pretty much eats the same things mentioned here. I haven't even started giving her yogurt or pieces of fruit in the netting and was hesitant to do so. My DD is just about 8 months. We are seeing the ped on Monday and I was going to ask about yogurt, cheese and eggs. As other posters said....I am nervous about giving her too much. She does have her 2 bottom teeth. The only thing I have given DD that is not baby food is broken up puffs. She chews them pretty good.

they don't need teeth to eat most things anyway.
most babies will only get their 2 front and 2 bottom teeth for a while, they don't get their back teeth for a long time and they don't chew with their front..
They mash everything with their gums, you'd be surprised what they can eat with no teeth...don't let that be a deterrent from trying soft foods.

Agreed! Molly does lots of cheerios, puffs, crackers. I've also offered her small pieces of banana, bread, carrots, mashed potatoes. Pretty much anything we are eating that isn't too spicy I break off a tiny little piece to give to her. I really like the Gerber Graduates diced apples and carrots since they are so soft and so convenient. The peices are pretty big, so I still cut them up, but those are great things to try also.

She really prefers the real food and it getting very picky with her baby food!

I remember by 1 year old Jack was eating pizza! So as long as you are giving them super small pieces the amount of teeth doesn't matter...its all about gum mashing

Re: what are/were your 7month olds eating?

Nikolas will be 8 months next week , and he isn't on too much table food yet... I admit I'm scared to try him on a lot of things, so it's "me" not him. but I am gradually going to start the next few weeks to introduce him to some newer things..

So far outside of the stage 2 baby foods.. he's tried some fruits (bananas, pears) mashed potatoes, pastina, smushed up pasta with butter and cheese, and he loves his puffs!

He doesn't seem to tolerate corn or mac & cheese even in baby food (he throws it up Chat Icon) so I'm reluctant to start on either of those two things for some time..

Steven will be 7 months in a week and he just tried pastina yesterday. I gave him a bananna in the net. I tried zwieback toast, but he had no interest.

I didn't even start meat yet.

Re: what are/were your 7month olds eating?

My boys are 9 months and I just go the go ahead from the ped to try and start feeding them more table food them i was. I usually still give them cereal with fruit in the morning, then they get stage 3 (which pretty much is table food for the parents who don't have time to cook up dinner). They also have had eggs, pasta, biscuits. They still have not gotten the hang of putting anything that is on their tray into their mouths yet so I just feed them when we sit down.

My ped said that anytime DH and me sit down to eat that we should have them at the table and feeding them whatever we are eating (if not a choking hazard). She mentioned fish, pasta, bread, cheerios.

My boys have 6 teeth.

Don't worry, I'm in the same boat! I have only had DD on babyfoods. I am clueless about this whole food thing, I'm glad when people ask these questions!

Maybe i'll try giving her some real, live banana this weekend instead of the jarred food lol. We haven't done meat yet either..

Half the time DD is sleepy in her carseat when we get home from daycare, and I just bathe her, nurse her and put her to bed and it doesn't leave much time to try new things with her. We mostly do it on the weekends (i'd rather do it than daycare, which is probably selfish of me!)..

Thsi is how I am! Chat Icon

DS stays with my mom but I like to try the new things with him. And, that doesn't leave much time because we only have the weekends.

I like to see his face whenever he tries something new Chat Icon

I feel the same way, but I'm pretty sure my MIl has given him new things and not told me- even though I very specifically told her NOT to give him any new foods without consulting with me.

Re: what are/were your 7month olds eating?

Mine are almost 8 months, and have only done stage 2 foods, and they have two teeth each. I am so afraid to start table foods b/c choking. I feel like they don't know how to chew yet.
