What airlines do/don't have extra fees for baggage and other things?

A bunch of us are flying for a family reunion. We are looking at the plane fares and then began wondering if one fare might look better than another, but wondering if they have extra fees. It's been one year since we have flown and I know things have changed.

What airlines have the fees for one checked bag?

Are there other fees like this that we could be surprised with, after booking? (Not the normal taxes and fees that get added when you book.)

TIA!

Southwest does not charge any additional fees. We travel all the time and they are most accommodating for us in terms of price.

I;ve neer had any surprise fees - they always add them up before you make the payment.

Southwest is 2 free bags per ticketed passenger, Jet blue is one free bag. The other major lines like delta, etc are all pay (they charge you per bag).

The lines have different charges for bags so you should figure out what each airline charges, then look at the flight and figure if people bring 2 bags each what the total will run.

Booking directly through the line is usually the cheapest b/c places like expedia charge a nominal fee.

Also some lines charge for certain preferred seats.

Keep in mind tuesday night into wednesday is often the cheapest time to book.
