What a long night...update at bottom-finally sleeping

The nurses had told us that Emily could react to the prednisone by vomiting but since it didn't happen at all yesterday we thought we were OK.

Well, at around 10pm last night she woke up with a small cry and then we heard this huge gush/splash noise. She had vomited all over herself and all over her crib. We rushed into her room and it just wouldn't stop. It continued on for about 20 minutes and then all night in incriments.

So now our next 3-4 days are going to be spent taking care of not only an asthmatic baby who needs the nebulizer but a vomiting one who can't miss her prednisone because she needs it to make her better.

I just feel so bad for her. She was miserable last night. She did manage to sleep for about an hour and a half in DH's arms and she's awake now and just took half a pedialyte pop, but I just feel so bad for my little girl.

On top of that I have Jury Duty but I see this as an extreme circumstance, and I am calling in today and asking to be taken off of the case. She will probably be like this for days and DH can't take the whole week off of work, plus I just feel like I need to be with her for this. She definately can't go to the babysitter.

Continue thinking of my little girl for us!
Melissa

update - Emily is finally napping. She literally passe out in my arms when I was giving her the nebulizer, and I layed her down in the crib and she stayed esleep. I'm so nervous with her sleeping in there, that she'll get sick again, but I don't think she has much to get sick with. Just half a pedialyte pop and some water that she drank.

I called Jury duty and spoke with the clerk on m ycase. He is letting the judge know the situation and will get back to me later today to let me know if they are going to just adjourne for a day or two or if they'll fill me in with an alternate juror, since there are two alternates left. We already went through one.

I hope today is better. I am so afraid to give her the prednisone again when she wakes up, but I know I have to. The ER doc said it would happen and siad to just worry about fluids like water and pedialite but I'm also so worried because she is so thin and she obviously can't eat much because of this.

Re: What a long night...update at bottom-finally sleeping

thanks everyone! she is in good spirits today. She must have said hi in her happy, elated, squeaky voice about 200 times already this morning.

she ate very little yesterday --- maybe 4 goldfish, 1/2 ritz cracker, one slice of cheese (she was banging on the fridge saying cheese cheese cheese so I gave in even though she wasn't supposed to have milk products since she had been vomiting) and 1 pedialyte pop. she also had about 5 oz of pedialyte/water mixed.

Today I gave her 3 oz of milk in a bottle because she was asking for her baba in the morning and she was OK with it. She also had about 3 bites of a french toast stick, and then had diarhea. The doctor actually thinks she has a stomach virus on top of everything else going on, and my FIL just took DH to the doctors because he was up sick all night and is really bad with some kind of stomach virus.

I'll probably be next. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'll keep you all updated! Hopefully I can get her to eat a little bit more today, she looks so skinny already after one day of not eating.
