We're flying to FL Thursday morning out of JFK - what are our chances of actually getting out?!?!

We have not flown in a long time, and it's been ages (if ever) we've flown with delays and cancellations preceeding a trip.

I'm terrified that our flight will be cancelled or over booked and we'll get bumped! How can I tell the chances of this happening???

I know the airports are supposedly open today, but there are many people they need to get out that have been stranded for days.

Heard on the radio that flights may not be back to normal til next week. And people will be lucky to get out of here by Friday!

Thia past Saturday I looked online at the available seats (my cousin was thinking of flying down with us) and there was ONE seat available on our outbound flight! ONE!

I'm not freaking out, but this is a BIG deal for me- DH, SIL, BIL & my 3 montho old niece surprised me XMas eve with a trip to Disney for DH, DS and I.

Thanks.

You will be fine. They normally ask for volunteers to be bumped, and in the off chance that you are bumped, Im sure they would get you out the same day.

You'll be fine because you already have your flight. It's people that were supposed to fly Sunday and yesterday that have the issues getting rebooked. I have been in the situation many times like this due to weather and never once was anyone bumped from a flight because it was oversold. At a certain point they fill the plane and then take standby so if there are no shows then the standby folks can get on.

You should be fine, but plan to get there even extra early.

Good Luck! I'm in the same boat as you except my flight was cancelled and I got a new flight for tomorrow.
