We're doing our closings today!
In the AM we close on the sale of our condo and in the afternoon we close on the purchase of our house!  Now bring on the Pepto! hehehe

Well, they're done! The sale went so smoothly but the purchase wasn't so easy...the seller was sick so her son had power of attorney. He never got a payoff letter for the mother HELOC and had trouble letting the bank give him one immediately b/c they didn't have the power of attorney on record. He had to conference call with his mother when she was no out of conciousness to speak with the bank. Plus, he wasn't even kind to his mother on the phone!
Then, he took the shower heads and refused to put up anything and denied the dishwasher is broken (we had video of it whirling and cranking and not filling with water), so we don't get a credit. Our attorney would have pushed for it but there was another bigger issues to deal with, so we picked our battles.
We were told we would have possession at closing and when we did our walk-through the house wasn't vacant!!! We get to closing and the son says he's taking all 5 days. Meanwhile, we made arrangements for possession of our house and movers based on immediate possession of the new house. It was a nightmare! His lawyer couldn't stand him and wouldn't explain any papwerwork to him and just let him argue with our attorney...so much for him getting representation. Plus, his actual lawyer wasn't present and send someone else from the practice (probably b/c he couldn't stand him!).
There were so many private meetings in the hall and during one his lawyer called the seller's son so many bad names to our lawyer! The title closer wouldn't shake his hand, he wouldn't even look at us, and he tried to get out of paying the NY Transfer Tax (which you HAVE TO do when you sell!).
I could go on and on and on about the 3.5 hr closing (we were done signing in about 20 minutes mind you). At least we get possession by Fri. at 6am when the movers come to take our stuff off the truck and our lawyer kept a bundle of money in escrow just in case. I saw him moving out the junk today-YIPPIE! The only other good thing is that the expiditor (sp?) got all 3 COs done!!! We should have the paperwork by Friday!!! Now just to clean, clean and clean some more!
