We got Caiden a potty this past weekend...

We got him the baby bjorn seat that goes on top of the real toilet and a step stool. He has only sat on it twice. The first time he let me read him a book on it, and the second time he only stayed on there 30 seconds. He can't get on by himself of course, and he doesn't seem sure about it half the time.

He's showing signs of being ready to try, but he doesn't always want to go on it.

How do I keep having him try it without forcing him? Any ideas?

He's all excited about it, but usually at the last minute he changes his mind and shakes his head no.

Don't force him. Just keep reminding him of it consistently. When he is ready, he will do it. Sometimes it's easier to use a small potty that sits on the floor...so the child can play with it and become comfortable w/it while their clothes are on.
