WAY TMI Q for those that had V-birth and tear or episiotomy?

I know this Q is way beyond the bounds of TMI but, I am way too Chat Icon to call the Dr to ask.

I had a Vbirth 4 weeks ago and had a 2nd degree tear. Doc told me in terms of care to use the squirt bottle and not really wipe in the front and when washing to use soap only in the back to avoid the front/stitches area. So this is what I have been doing but I feel gross and I am wondering can I wash normally with soap now in the area or do I have to wait until my 6wk visit?

Thanks so much - please don't quote I may take this down soon b/c I am so Chat Icon

I washed with soap VERY LIGHTLY to clean the area. I wouldnt clean "inside" yet.

I did this also. I waited about 3-4 weeks for the "inside" part.

I washed in the general area...if you know what I mean with a soft cloth and lots of soap..that way the area was getting clean but I wasnt hurting myself.

Oh and there is no such thing as a TMI Q. after giving birth.

By 4wks pp your stitches should have dissolved by now. As long as you feel ok and not too sensitive down there you should be able to wash inside and out at this timeChat Icon
