Voting experience (NON Political) feel good moment

As I'm at my booth (touch screen) voting away, I hear "oh this is your first time? ever? So youre between 18-20yrs" and a timid "Yes, I've never voted before, this is my first time" everyone (including those in our booths) turned around and looked. This young guy is there, not blushing but defiant like "im here to vote and no one will stop me" and the guy says .. "well GOOD for you" and the whole room, voters and those waiting to vote gave the kid an applause.

GOOD for you and congrats on the way out. THATS when he blushed and smiled.

Its so good to see young voters and I'm glad the room supported him.

Chat Icon I work with special needs teens at a high school. One of my students is voting today for the first time. She is so, so proud and excited. I love it, it makes me teary-eyed.

Voting experience (NON Political) feel good moment

I dont think ANYONE cared who he was voting for.. just the fact he was voting.. it made me feel good.

Politics are nasty and everyone has their opinion and some are more forceful about them than others and the mud slinging is part of it ...... but in this moment. NO ONE cared about the race and no one tried to sway his vote in any direction.

We all just seemed so happy to see a new voter. Put things into perspective.

My first national election was 2000. It just sucked the joy out of it when the election was so contested and it felt like no votes counted.

TX

We have always had computerized (touch screen or close to it) as long as I could vote (1996) It wasn't until I got to NY that I had to learn paper and those funny little lever things (which are so cute btw Chat Icon )

Since I've been back we vote on what looks like a bulky laptop. It is totally touch screen with a large button on top in red that says 'vote' it flashes when you've completed your ballot only AFTER you reviewed all your votes.
