Verizon Wireless vs Sprint---is it worth switching to sprint to save some money?

i've had VW for years and am very happy with them.

DH and i are ready to get data plans (and join the 21st century) but it's about $30ish more a month to stay with VW. DH checked out sprint but i know NOTHING about them.

can anyone give some insight if they're similar or if it's worth it to stay with VW and just pay more?

ETA: it's about $30 more a month, not $60.

My BIL has Sprint ,and I hate talking to him on the phone because of his reception ! IDK if it is where he is at the times he calls me, but it happens all the time ! Dh and I have Verizon ,and bad reception rarely happens to us . On the other hand $60 is alot of money ~! Do you get discounts through either one of your jobs for Verizon? I have a 15% discount through my job I just found out about.

I had sprint (just left for att for the iphone) and i had no issues with their service. My brother & parents have verizon and I didnt seem to have any more dropped calls or "dead spots" than them.

Re: Verizon Wireless vs Sprint---is it worth switching to sprint to save some money?

I've had Sprint for a few years now and I've never had any complaints. I have better reception that DH, but he has at&t. I just got the new EVO today and I love it. The plans are cheaper than anywhere else I've seen and I've always been happy with customer service. I think they recently changed their policy, that if you have a plan of $69.99 or more you qualify for the new customer discount ever 1 yr instead of 2 yrs. It seems to me like Sprint has really been focusing on revamping the company (could just be my opinion), and I think you'd be happy switching. Get the EVO if you do. It's absolutely incredible.

I know a lot of people have had some negative experiences with Sprint, but I think the company of a few yrs ago is not the same Sprint.

FYI....jerseypanda works for Sprint and mentioned she could offer new customers better plans than the ones offered to the public. You might want to FM her.

Ditto! I wouldn't go back to Sprint even if they paid me! I would never get a strong signal to make or get any calls!

DH and I have had Sprint for years and have never had an issue with reception, nor customer service. In fact, our house is a dead zone for Verizon, but our Sprint phones work perfectly. And we find the plans to be very reasonable. They have a new thing where calls to any mobile phone on any netowrk are free (don't count against your minutes).

Sprint actually just released the first 4G phone yesterday - the HTC EVO. It seems pretty awesome!

Yup... I do work for them... and to all of you who can't stand Sprint, it pains me to hear that, but I definitely get it. Everyone has different experiences based on where you need to use your phones and who you deal with in the company.

But I definitely try to put myself out there for anyone who has questions or issues... I'll do what I can to help! Chat Icon

And I can also vouch for the fact that the HTC EVO 4G is AWESOME!!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Can't wait to get my HTC 4G! In July

btw-Sprint works in the tunnel out of Penn. AT&T doesn't..in case that matters.

Verizon doesn't work in the subways but AT&T and Sprint do! At least that's what my friend with Verizon told me.

same, hate them, customer servisce was Chat Icon would never go back. My DH had REALLY bad experience with them as well and so did all my friends and family . I don't think I have ever met a person who was happy with sprint service and their customer service.
Who knows , maybe they have improved , but .....

Re: Verizon Wireless vs Sprint---is it worth switching to sprint to save some money?

I've had Sprint for about 5 years. My parents have had it for even longer. No complaints from any of us. I don't have any more reception problems than the people I know with Verizon & AT&T & the dealings I've had with customer service have always been plesant enough.

The only complaint I had was that I felt the phones were crappily made & they almost never lasted the 2 years required before the upgrade. However, my most recent phone is of better quality than past phones, & I think we can now upgrade sooner as well.

I think once Sprint launches their 4G network here in NY you will see people move over.

Re: Verizon Wireless vs Sprint---is it worth switching to sprint to save some money?

Ive had sprint with DH for 6 years and I have to say while we've never had a problem they are really are moving onward and upward. I am a premiere customer and they gave us a reward of an upgraded phone at one year instead of two for me. I was super happy with that. I have never had a problem with their customer service and I love the prices. We have never had problems with reception except on my old phone and that was the phone not the server.

Re: Verizon Wireless vs Sprint---is it worth switching to sprint to save some money?

My DH went to Sprint the other day because he wanted to get the new 4G phone and though it would be cheaper than what we are paying with AT&T.
But after everything was all added up (stuff they don't advertise), it won't up being just as expensive.

My brother has them and I think his reception stinks. I would stick with Verizon or ATT.

Verizon works in the tunnel coming out of Penn also.
And it also works in some subway stations (depends on how deep you are underground or how near you are to the exit)

Personally, I love Verizon - i've been with them for 12 years and never had any issues, always good customer service etc.
