Vampire series-which would you recommend?

I feel like there are so many vampire series out there. I was a HUGE Twilight fan so I feel like nothing will ever come close but I want to start reading a vampire series after I finish Millenium series. Which would you recommend?

Re: Vampire series-which would you recommend?

Twilight has swiftly moved to the bottom of my list as far as Vampire Series go

Sookie Stackhouse
Vampire Academy
House of Night
Morganville
My Blood Approves

I only read the first 2 books in the Vampire Diaries... it was good, but i really dont have much interest in the rest of them

ITA about Twilight. It got me into it, but that's about it.

So far Morganville and Vampire Academy are my faves.

I haven't read My Blood Approves and I wasn't exactly a fan of House of Night. I actually just picked up a copy of the first two Vampire Diaries books because they didn't have the next in the Morganville series and I heard the show was good so I wanted to read the book first.

If you're into paranormal in general (like I am), I highly recommend the Kelly Amrstrong "Women of the Other World" series. It starts off with werewolves (which I'll admit didn't thrill me) but as the series goes along you meet everyone from witches and warlocks to vampires to demons to necromancers and it's really good.

For me, the only vampire series that compares to Twilight is the Black Dagger Brotherhood which is an adult series. I've read most of the other popular YA vampire series and nothing else has given me that desperate to get my hands on the next book feeling like Twilight and Black Dagger Brotherhood. I am a fan of the Vampire Academy series also.

Ones I didn't see mentioned:

Love the Black Dagger Brotherhood
Midnight Breed series is pretty good too.

I liked Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series (paranormal in general, not just vamps) but there were so many books I kind of lost interest after Acheron's book.

Kressley Cole's Immortals after Dark are pretty good too, broader paranormal, not just vamps.

Karen Mae Moning's Fever series started strong but I really didn't care for the last one. Not many vamps, but interesting paranormal series.

I couldn't get into the Anita Blake books.

The Black Dagger Brotherhood far surpassed Twilight for me. Actually, the more I read other series, the less my opinion is of Twilight. Immortals After Dark is good--it still doesn't compare to the BDB for me, but it made me appreciate Scottish werewolves Chat Icon

Ach, woman. You doona' ken what your bluidy missing!

The series starts with a novella in a compliation book (Playing Easy to Get I think it was called). The story was good, but didn't totally catch me. It wasn't till I picked up the first actual book that I started to get into it. And then each book thereafter got me more and more as I got invested in the cast.

The Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series.
First book is Guilty Pleasures.
Great series and there's like 19 books.

Re: Vampire series-which would you recommend?

I loved the Twilight books and didn't think anything would come close to them either!! A bunch of friends told me to ready the Sookie Stackhouse series and I am so glad that I did! It blew Twilight out of the water!!!!

Definitely give it a try!

I loved twilight saga too. Here are 3 of my faves. Love, love, love these 3:

1. Vampire academy by Richelle Mead
2. Night huntress by Jeaniene Frost
3. Chicagoland vampires by Chloe Neill
4. Sookie series by Chraine Harris

You can't fo wrong with any of them!

Re: Vampire series-which would you recommend?

I love the Sookie books. I even got my husband to read them Chat Icon

I have to say I started off loving House of Night, but after a few books I felt like they weren't progressing. I felt like it got to a point where I read 3 books and was only about a week further and there was little to no resolution of things that occured in previous books.

Black Dagger Brotherhood was delish Chat Icon

Not vampires, but another YA book series that I am enjoying is the Fallen series by Lauren Kate...I've only read the first 2, and I think there are 4 , but the first one really got its hooks into me.

Re: Vampire series-which would you recommend?

ummm The Vampire Chronicles for sure.

Much deeper mythology than any other series I've read.

I want to re-read since I did stop after something happenned to tick me off about 8 books in. Also, it crossed over with the mayfair witches and I ahdn't read those so I wanted to read them
