Update on my LIPA issues...
SO....LIPA is refusing to help us, so I had to file a complaint with the Department of Consumer Services. They are now going to investigate the issue and if LIPA still refuses to find some sort of a compromising resolution, then we will be appointed a representative from Consumer Services to deal with the situation. So, that's where we're at. And if anyone else is having an issue with a utility company and they are not cooperating, DEFINITELY file a complaint with the department because this is how these crooks can be regulated. I hate utility companies as it is, but LIPA is a complete monopoly, and I refuse to be bullied by them

I was thinking about this when I was just shopping.
Lipa said that everyone in the building is paying $400, right?
But then you said that they said that the old tenants paid about $70(or 40 or something a hell o fa lot lower) that seems pretty damn hypocritical to me.

Yes, this is exactly what they told us, but they lied because the woman from the billing department said there's no way of looking at someone else's bill to tell us that while they were on the phone with us. So something's up. Hopefully we will get to the bottom of it

I just shared your story with Darren...now we are both trying to think about it.
Make sure JT talks to the neighbors..find out what they were paying.
Ask them for the last two dates that the meter was actually read.
