Update from Travel Advice Needed!

For those who did not read the original email from yesturday (looking for some advice)....my DH & I were forced to change the dates of our honeymoon, since I got a sub position and cannot take the days off.

So we had to cancel our dream honeymoon of Tahiti and Mexico. Instead we wanted to move it 2 weeks later and extend the nights in Mexico.

Of course we were not happy about this and even worse, to our surprise the TA wanted to charge us $500 just to make changes. That fee in addition to the fees & difference in rates from the air and hotel. She does seems to not want to be bothered at this point and we think is upset she lost that commission. Does not care that it's our honeymoon at all. Some "honeymoon specialist"!

So we had to cancel everything all together because that is just too much money to spend for mexico.

So, we had to cancel our honeymoon and the "travel agent" did not seem to even care. We had to call her, since she only seems to want to respond in emails. She explained her fees increased....wow from $50 to $500, I wish I had that increase in salary.

MY DH also stated that we don't always get frequent chances to check email and prefer a phone call,,,,BUT yet again we got an email from the TA with only insurance contact information & the airline information to make a claim in order to get some of the money we paid refunded. We still know nothing about the deposits we paid, because the email was so vague from her. So the process continues and in the end we still have no vacation & the worst part is my DH has no time off again until his residency is over (Nov.)!

Did you get a leave replacement? Is this why you had to cancel? I am so sorry that you had to reschedule

yeah I got leave replacement, which we did not think would happen when we originally booked our honeymoon. (we got married in september, while student teaching, or could not take it then either). So DH put in for the time off with his residency and once you get it, you can't change it.

why can't you book something else?

he has the time off - and I am sure you can find a nice trip on line

it might not be what you were orginally doing but it's still going on vacation and having your honeymoon- a beach is a beach! as long as they serve drinks- I don't care where it is!

We are looking...but after the $$$ we've already lost, we are not sure we can find a place we can afford and be happy with.
We have had so much going on for the past few months and years (with us finishing school) that anything relaxing and warm would be great! But we are on a budget.
