Re: UGh the city today....

Definitely a good week to avoid the city - more visitors than usual.

I get a little p.o.'d because I do't think some of the visitors from outside NY don;t understand that people work here - need to get by when they are taking pictures, dilly dallying etc.

It's virtually impossible to park in the city during the week unless you park in a garage. I hope you have a nice dinner.

I knew there was a reason why I liked you so much - I couldnt agree more!

This is a very bad time to visit the city - waaaaaay too many people.

I work right by the New Yorker Hotel & everyday clumps of tourists stand smack in the middle of the sidewalk. Now anyone that wants to get to Penn has to practically walk in the street. Chat Icon

Re: UGh the city today....

I tend to be a street parker and DH will only circle a block once or twice before garaging it. He puts it this way: You have to decide how much your time is worth. For the two hours you spent looking for a spot, you could have been enjoying yourself in the museum or doing something else. It may have been worth it to pay for the garage so you could have enjoyed yourself the way you wanted to.

And true, this is a very heavily traveled time in the city. During weeks like this, LIRR sounds good!

I used to work at Rock center and after getting frustrated by all the tourists, I started smiling in the background of their pictures. I thought it was funny and they didn't have a scowling NY'er in the pic. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

We ALWAYS park at a garage that's on 59th between 10th and 11th it's 9 bucks any time for any length of time.

Re: UGh the city today....

It is terrible. I used to feel bad but not anymore - I have to get my coffee and get back to work. I've waited for enough photos to be taken, now you can hold your cameras. At least if I walk by they are digital and don't have to pay for film anymoreChat Icon
