Two Part Question: Re: buying off your own registry (BBB)

So, I am not having a shower-- and I have signed up, and told my entire family to sign up to get the BBB 20% off coupons. I have two that expire Monday.

What I thought I would do-- is use the coupons up, leading up to when I deliver, to buy some more expensive items that we'll need right away.

BUT, the other part of me thinks, should we spend the money, or wait to see if someone else gets it for us? The issue is, is that most items won't be purchased until the baby is born-- then we'll be getting a ton of packages delivered to the house.

My other question is, does BBB let you double dip? Like, 10% off your registry item--then use the 20% off coupon on top of that? My thoughts are no-- but, I thought I would ask.

Thanks!

We actually did this last weekend, we bought things that we KNOW we will need the first weeks, that I won't be able to wait for until after she comes...such as the monitor (we're having a nurse the first two weeks, and I wanted it ASAP) burp cloths, washcloths, and a cra*p load of other things, bc we ended up spending a fortune....they let us use multiple coupons but didn't mention the 10% off buying off our own registry....now I'm peeved...but they did let us use a bunch of coupons, we also went when they were closing and the girl was sooo tired and amused by my DH and I that she just was scanning every coupon in site..Chat Icon

I can't wait for certain things and I'm too anal to rely on other ppl getting it for me the first week, I want certain things on hand that I don't want to keep sending DH out, bc I'm sure a ton more things will come up those first few weeks that I'll be sending him out for...as for gifts, I feel like I'm going to get a ton of clothing and possibly the "toys" like the bouncer, play mat etc....I've gotten some gifts from my non-jewish friends already and its all clothing...with girls I feel like I'm going to get more clothing than anything so I'm not relying on must needs from friends or family..

Make sense???

I am right there with you-- I want everything that I need right away, and do not want to have to wait and stare out the window waiting for the UPS truck to show up.

Also, if I am going to have to probably purchase stuff anyway-- I might as well do it with the coupon to do so.

I am going to wait on the burp cloths and stuff like that-- because using a coupon on that doesn't really make sense-- it's inexpensive anyway. But, I am thinking like a car seat, or something-- I should get some of the bigger ticket items, right?

Re: Two Part Question: Re: buying off your own registry (BBB)

My shower is on Nov. 8. I have a 15% coupon for BRU and decided that if no one buys my PNP by 10/30, I am going to go and use the discount coupon to buy that myself. My shower is small, so I know DH and I will have to buy a lot of stuff ourselves. I already bought the swing I registered for from a woman down the street who had the same one new in the box. She got a duplicate and never returned or exchanged.

Yup, we did the monitor and a bunch of other big ticket items along with the inexpensive things...The car seat we're doing next month with another coupon...Chat Icon Then we do the breast pump with the other coupon....I highly doubt someone is going to buy that as a gift for me Chat Icon

we decided not to buy anything yet-- we have all of our parents (3 sets) getting coupons plus us-- so we'll have more opportunities to use coupons. We decided at the store today, that it's a little too early, and we might end up changing our minds.

I thought Medala was excluded from the coupons?? Or did you not get a Medala pump?

No we're getting the medela one, it may be, I haven't looked into that..I thought we could use the bed bath and beyond coupon on it..it doesn't say excluding Medela...we'll see...but it is a good idea to get some of the bigger ticket items with the coupons, thats def what we're doing..I know my friends and family will get the pnp, and some other big ticket items, but I don't need that right away, so I'm not getting that...but certain things that i need asap I'm not waiting on..i'm not patient by any stretch of the imagination...

yeah-- patience and me don't get along. I am right there with ya... I guess we wanted to wait to talk to people and see what they may buy us ahead of time. We felt rushed into it-- we may go back before Monday to use them though.
