Traveling with an infant

I plan on going to Florida with Justin to visit my parents when he is 3 months old. I am trying to get a list of things that I need to bring with me or that I need my parents to buy for me. I feel there is so much I am going to need such as a swing, pack and play, car seat base. I could take some stuff from here but I am flying and do not want to bring so much with me since I am going without my DH. Any suggestions for traveling with an infant and what I would need?

Thanks

Re: Traveling with an infant

I've travled to FL with Jack a few times now and just a tip....there are a ton of places that rent baby things like cribs, Pack and Plays, swings, carseats, etc. So if you can't borrow from someone down there, and don't want to lug a ton of stuff (which you dont!) look into this. With all the families visiting grandmas and grandpas in Florida, baby supply rentals is a hot business! Chat Icon

When I travel, I make sure I am stock for the trip taking into account delayed flights. Then I just plan to buy diapers, formula, etx when I get there. So much easier!

Re: Traveling with an infant

Hi first of all if your parents live in a development like my parents do there are lots of Grandparents and they will have stuff for your parents to borrow:Like a pack n play and car seat and base. Trust me on this one If not you can always buy things while you are down there. Grandma's love to shop for babies

Have your parents buy the formula if you are not BFIng. I just used one of those 4 compartment powder continers for the plane and brought to bottles with water in them just in case. YOur mom can also buy diapers and stuff like that.

YOur parents probably can borrow a car seat and a base if not you can check it - they sell bags especially made for car seats.

Dont really worry about a swing if its only a week. I thought I needed one to when I went with my son when he was a baby but we did without it - Grandma and Grandpa will be there and they are better then any swing. YOu will be outside alot hopefully and that knocks them out.

Bring a few toys or maybe have your parents get the gymnee mat . YOu dont need as much as you think you do.

I will be going to Florida when my baby is 8 weeks - I am bringing her, a stroller, car seat and base and I will tell my parents to get a bouncy seat for her. If I need more I will buyit when I am there and store it at my parents house.

YOu can FM if yo have questions I have flown to my parents house so many times
