Travel Ideas ~ December/Christmas Week

So for the first time EVER I have off the week b/t Christmas and New Years... Since I am on a quest to now get as much travel in within the next two years, I want to plan something..

The current idea is to go to Greece in April/May of 2007, so we'd want something affordable, potentially off-season but still a desirable place to travel to.

Any ideas?? We were thinking England/Paris but the flights are not as cheap as I thought they would be-- unless prices are just so high now cause of gas prices.

Re: Travel Ideas ~ December/Christmas Week

That is one of the most popular weeks of the entire year to travel so prices will be pretty high no matter where you go. And at this point alot will already be completely booked. Good luck.

CA, Las Vegas, and Arizona are places I have never been but are on my list - you may want to check them out!

Have you looked for any 4 day trips to the Islands? Sometimes they have mid-week specials that do not require the weekend stay.

I think we wanted somethign more of a city-- somewhere we want to see-- while we like to relax and lie on the beach-- it's not that much of an experience-- which is why we were thinking Europe.

wherever you decide it needs to be booked asap cause we make our christmas plans a year in advance..im sure a lot of others do the same thing. it is going to be a lot more expensive than say mid-summer. good luck with whatever locale you end up choosing!! Chat Icon

If you are looking to do something "beachy" you might want to check into the Bahamas. DH and I are going there the week after Christmas and I was shocked that the prices werent outrageous.

We went to paris that week last year. Other than it being really cold and snowy, it was a good time to go because other than new years eve, the city was pretty quiet ( not a lot of tourists)

I would say that Chistmas in the UK is fantastic, but be aware that the weather will be awful and that its a bank holiday, so things will potentially be closed the 24/25/26 then again for New Years. Not sure about Paris though.
