Toys Made In China- Christmas related

Are you going to give your kids toys made in China for Christmas in light of the recent problems?

I had ordered a bunch of Fisher-Price & Playskool toys online from Kohl's at crazy low prices, and now I'm wondering if I should even give them to DD. She's only 4.5 months, so everything goes in her mouth.

This is so confusing about what to do Chat Icon

That's exactly how I feel, there's not much out there made in America.

I am trying my best to avoid it.

I am going with a Step 2 kitchen and the push buggy.

His piano is from germany I think..

I want to order 2 or 3 things off a website so he has more to open.

Its hard though. He loves Pablo, all that is made in china....so are so many books.

Re: Toys Made In China- Christmas related

At first I was really against getting DS toys made in China, but we just got back from BBB and everything is made in china. I wanted to get him some teethers because he is 3 1/2 months old and starting to teethe. Every teether was made in china. I feel awful but what am I supposed to do? If there were US made teethers I would have paid more for them. I got him ones that were not painted and did not have small parts. I figured that was hopefully ok, but it still really worries me.

I'm not giving my DS toys from China since he always puts things in his mouth. The girls I will, because they don't do that anymore.

Re: Toys Made In China- Christmas related

A couple things I bought are MIC, however, I bet 95% of the toys she puts in her mouth at daycare are MIC also, so I'd be battling a lost cause if I took back the things I already bought.

Re: Toys Made In China- Christmas related

Well, I'll say this, yes and no.
Anything that she might put in her mouth, no, not from China.
Her plush bowling set and Dora bike, yes.

I watched a show on the discovery channel a couple of weeks ago about mining. They were talking about China and said that China's mining equipment isn't even as up to date as mining technology was in the 1970s and that people die all the time in their mines. So, that led me to think that if they don't give a crap about their own people, then they certainly don't give a crap what they're using to make toys for people in America.

Re: Toys Made In China- Christmas related

I am on the fence about this one- see here is my theory- remember how toys r us sent out an email about 2 months ago that china is not making anymore "at risk" toys anymore- well what is going to happen to whats in the warehouses NOW? are they going to throw them out? no they are going to still send them out to stores and the stores will sell them at crazy low prices to get rid of the old stock.

If DD gets a lot of toys I am going to be extremely choosy return most and may not give her any.
