Tooth related injury question

DD can't catch a break!! She just fell and hit her mouth. I saw blood and noticed her front tooth is much shorter than it used to be. I doesn't look broken though. Could it have pushed up into her gum? The bleeding wasn't bad and stopped pretty quick. She seems fine other than a stubby tooth. Should I see a dentist tomorrow? Will it come back down?

Re: Tooth related injury question

Could her lip be swollen and that's why it looks shorter?

Chat Icon OMG, poor Hannah.

I hope all of this bad luck doesn't continue with herChat Icon Chat Icon

I have no advice cause I never heard of anything like this. BUT if it were me, I would call my dentist in the morning and see what he says. If she seems fine otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much. I know...easier said....

That's the weird thing, it doesn't. If it did it was a real smooth break and I couldnt find the piece.

taking the idea of what Steph said and adding on....maybe the lip isnt swollen but rather the gum is swollen and bc its swollen some of her tooth is hidden behind the swelling???

Don't think so - since the 2 front teeth were level and now one is much shorter. I hope she doesn't have to walk around with 1/2 a front tooth until she loses her baby teethChat Icon

Re: Tooth related injury question

i would bring her to a pediatric dentist just to make sure there wasn't any damage to the permanent teeth.. my son did that when he was young.. his tooth was bruised a bit after a while (like a grey color) but luckily the permanent tooth was far enough up there that there wasn't any damage.

Re: Tooth related injury question

My DH is a dentist and he said that it could have absolutely have pushed up into her gums. It may re-position itself, and change color (turn dark) but definitely see a dentist ASAP!! HTH!

Jaidyn chipped both of her front teeth when she fell on the tile in my kitchen and I didn't notice it Chat Icon Someone at day care said her teeth look chipped and then I put two and two together. I didn't do anything since they are her baby teeth.Chat Icon
