Re: Tongue Tie

DS is 10 1/2 months and needs to get it snipped. My ped. recommended Dr. Coryllos in Mineola which alot of the girls on her have used however I decided not to use her. She does it the old school way where she cuts it and than holds it. That is a great way when they are first born and dont move as much. At 10 months she wanted me to swaddle DS in a blanket, the nurse was going to hold his head and me and Dh were supposed to hold him down so he doesnt move while she cuts his frenulum and than holds it for 4 min. while it stops bleeding Chat Icon yeh right! DS is so strong and moving all over the place there is no way that would happen. My ped. recommended waiting until this summer and having the procedure dont in the hopsital under general anesthesia (they only use the "funny" mask like they do at the dentist). The procedure lasts 2 min. tops. It is done with a laser and than corterised so you dont have to worry about the bleeding. Less painful and more humane in my opinion at this age!

Re: Tongue Tie

DS had his snipped at about 1 week old (the ped did it). I was glad we did it and its over. We know a boy whose parents didnt get it taken care of unitil he was about 7 and he developed speech issues.

Re: Tongue Tie

DS now 12 was tongue tied. Everytime we had a surgery scheduled he got a cold & they had to cancel. Finally my sister said that someone was trying to tell me something! The dr said it would only be a problem if it impeded speech. He is almost 13, never had the surgery & speaks just fine. I'm glad i listened to my sister. Just my experience.
