Toddler Vomiting and Diarrhea

Jack has been sick since Friday. Today he seems a little better but he has been vomitting at least once a day and has the worst diarrhea. He hasn't been eating much, but has been drinking liquids. I called the doctor and they didn't seemed concerned that it was going on for so long. Anyone else experience this with their toddler that lasted more than 2 days or so? Jack is 18 months

Ugh- I feel your pain! Shane had this last week. With him, the vomiting lasted only about twelve hours, but he had diarrhea for 5 days!!!! My ped wasn't too concerned either- it's a virus that's going around. I heard that it can last 8-10 days!Chat Icon Just make sure you keep Jack hydrated- I gave Shane water and pedialyte. Hope he feels better soon!

ETA: Shane is 13 months old

Thanks for your response. I know I should not worry too much, but it just seems like so long to have a stomach bug. Plus he only weighs like 21 pounds, so I don't want him to lose too much weight.Chat Icon

Re: Toddler Vomiting and Diarrhea

My son is 2, and for the past week or so had diarhea and a bit of vomiting sporadically. What was strange was that it wasnt consistent. Just as we thought he was fine, he threw up or had it again Chat Icon
he went 2 days on 2-3 days off, back on, weird. unpredictable. A friend of ours had the stomach bug go around to her whole house, so we figured he caught it there.

im sure you know these things, but good things to feed him (If he'll eat): rice, bananas, I was even told chicken broth is good if they wont eat. anything dry and binding obviously.
no juices, no milk, no dairy. (I know thats hard
Chat Icon ) If he takes a bottle, water it down, so its less milk.

I hope he feels better soon

All 3 of my kids had the Roto virus. They weren't 100% well until day 5 or 6!
