Time to go to a doctor?

So I'm new to this site and occasionally have lurked... used LIW for my wedding and found it incredibly helpful so I'm hoping LIF will help me with my next venture - TTC. Went off BCP in June, started TTC in September, using OPK's the last two cycles - no positive readings, started charting this cycle (no discernible pattern though I didn't know I was supposed to get up at the same time every day), and I've been really irregular... is it time to go to the doctor? I tend to be a bit of a hypochondriac, but I think I might actually not be ovulating and it's sort of stressing me out. Thoughts? Is it too soon to be concerned?

Welcome!

How have your cycles been since being off BCP? How long have they been?

I wouldn't worry about the temping. If you're not getting up at the exact same time each day, then your charts aren't reliable so I'd just disregard them for now.

As far as OPKs... on which cycle day did you start testing? And when did you stop?

Re: Time to go to a doctor?

My cycles have been long - I had one 30-day cycle, one 2-month cycle, and several in between. I'm currently a little over a month in and am waiting for AF to make her unpredictable appearance. I bought the FROPK, comes with 20 sticks - started about day 7 both times I think. The first cycle I stopped at some point - thought I must've missed it but it seemed really late and the month before was my one normal length cycle. Anyway, I'm not sure I'm doing this all right and I'm hoping I'm overreacting, but I'm starting to become concerned. What can I do next cycle to find out for sure? I already know I have to take temps at the same time each day. Is there a better OPK to use? Should I just go to the doctor anyway?

Do you have the dates of your last periods since coming off BCP?

I think you should start with OPKs on CD 10, and don't stop until you either get a + or get AF. Yes, it will be annoying. Yes, it will be expensive - but for now, that's the only way to tell if you're Oing since you really don't know how long your cycles are.

Try the temping. Fertility Friend has a whole course that you can take on it... it's VERY informative! And if you get the VIP membership, you can go on the VIP boards and ask any temping/charting questions and have them answered by a "fertility guide."

Re: Time to go to a doctor?

6/12 was the last one on the pill, then 7/21, 9/21, 10/25, 12/10, and still waiting. Are the OPKs really the only way to confirm? Ok, I better get used to POAS every day. Thanks for the advice!

Okay, well it does seem like your cycles have been pretty erratic since coming off the pill.

Your body is probably still regulating - but yes, you might want to see your doctor and have some bloodwork done to make sure you are ovulating.

OPKs aren't the only way to know... you can tell via u/s and blood work also.

Re: Time to go to a doctor?

when i came off the pill in feb, my periods for March, april and may were fine...i think the first cyle was 31 days, and the rest were 29.

then June was 45 days!! and after that ..aug/sept/oct..varied from 27-37 days. Nov and dec seem to be more normal and i think its starting to work itself out now..

so it does take time.alot of pple get regular in no time. I however did not..LOL.

I invested in the clear blue easy fertility monitor b/c those OPK's with the 2lines i could not figure out. this is much easier..expensive..yes, but its definitely helped me figure somethings out.
