Three reasons I'm unhappy my boys went into daycare this week: See updated post at end

I went back to work last wk, and the boys went to daycare...Older DS returned to same room he had left, and younger DS joins him. Let me preface this by saying I LOVE the center we've chosen, but here are three examples of why I wish I didn't work:

1. Monday (1st day), I pick them up and younger son has a 1.5" scratch on his cheek. Girl tells me she's not sure how it happened...? HGe's 4 months old and has NEVER scratched himself like that, but I see how it could happen.

2. Tuesday I pick them up and older DS has been bitten on the eye/temple. He's 2, so they could have been rough-housing outside and fell while playing, but I know there's a biter in the class (she's bitten him several times last yr), but I'm upset bc my son tells me, Mama - boom boom here Ow. breaks my heart. Plus older Ds has a cough.

3. Wed I pick them up and realize they fed younger DS 4x, but only 3 bottles are used from his bag. We get home and he starts to throw up while still in the infant seat and he begins to choke. He has a rash on his face, and is suddenly terribly congested and gassy -- acting like he did when I was eating dairy and he was getting an allergic rxn to my milk. It turns out THEY GAVE MY DAIRY-FREE SON ANOTHER CHILD'S MILK BOTTLE!

Poor kid, angry mom, but honest and apologetic teachers who told the truth today when I asked them about it. I can't wait to quit my job -- I feel like these things are God's way of telling me not to work....

I am a daycare provider and the bottle issue really bothers me ...That's something that really should not happen under any circumstances IMO ...I am sorry that happened

SORRY this happened. My opinion--take your chilren out of there and let others on here know what center this is so nobody ever gives them buisness again!

WoW! I am so sorry all that happened!
I will say my DD scratches herself often.
As for the bite, the teacher should have called you to tell you it had happened!
As for the wrong bottle, there is just NO reason for that to happen.
Someone was NOT paying attention!
If the bottles are labeled, this should NOT have happened.
I would definitley give the director a call and give her the heads up as to what has been happening!

what a rough week you had!!

when you stay home, you will be so much happier. I was always aggravated when working bc thigns weren't being done the way I had expected/wanted

there are just too many kids , bottles etc mistakes happen bc I think there is just too much going on. thank goodness your DC didn't have a worse reaction! am I understanding this correctly your DC was bitten twice this week ?

The milk is a deal breaker for me.
I'd remove my children from that facility.

I'm sooo sorry. That milk/bottle instance would totally bother me. I get annoyed if I see a bib in his cubby that isn't his.

I'm sure you thought it through and now you will be a SAHM. It sounds like the right decision for you. It will take some time to adjust. Enjoy the time with your children

The scratch I probably wouldn't have a problem with.

The two bites that drew blood I'd have a serious issue with. Does your daycare call you when your DS is bitter? DD had a bitter in her class last year and they always called me when she was bit. This kid never drew blood so I didn't flip out totally but I was pi$$ed.

As for the bottle switch....that is completely unacceptable. There is no reason the bottles should ever be switched!!!!

I would speak to the director to make sure that NEVER happens again.

Yep - bitten Wed on the temple/eye area and yesterday on the finger. Both bites drew blood and required treatment with ice.

I LOVED this daycare and I told the lead teacher last night that in the entire 18 mos that older DS was in this room we did not have this many problems. Now that we're back (after 4 mos of maternity leave with younger DS), all these things happen in the first 4 days?!?

As I said before, I was on the fence about staying at work upon my return, but now I know that I won't be staying at work. We're giving notice next week at work and at school. It's not worth the sacrifice. My poor boys.

the first 2 items I do not know that I would be so up in arms about, kids get bit/bite and daycare. But for them to give him another child's bottle is unacceptable, period
